PAXTON SPORT CENTRE (PSC) SUMMER CAMP is a small and intimate day camp located in a tranquil, rustic setting on eight country acres in Paxton. The camp is owned and operated by the Paxton Sports Centre, which is one of the premiere tennis and fitness clubs in Central Massachusetts. Our unique property features a complete indoor fitness complex with state of the art cardiovascular, free weight and nautilus center, four indoor tennis courts, heated pool, aerobic studio, spacious day care center, pro shop and air conditioned social lounge. With over 45,000 square feet of indoor space, there is never a dull moment at Camp Esmeralda, even on a rainy day. Outdoor facilities include a swimming pool, kiddie pool, large sandbox, six outdoor lit red clay tennis courts, fenced in playing fields, clubhouse, and poolside snack bar.  We believe that physical activity at all ages fosters a commitment to lifelong health and fitness.

PHILOSOPHY

At  PSC Summer Camp our camper/counselor ratio is exceptionally low to allow us to work individually with each camper and to guide him to the fullest athletic and social development possible. Every child will gain self esteem by learning skills and the concept of team spirit in a positive, non-competitive setting. Campers are supervised throughout the day by our hand picked and nurturing counselors. A wide range of age appropriate activities are offered, the youngest children learning rules and sportsmanship, and the “veterans” further developing their skills and interests.  We encourage campers to participate in all activities; we believe that a child does not have to be a star athlete to have a positive, fun and rewarding summer at PSC.

POLICY

A camper is expected to enter camp at the beginning of a session and to remain until the end of the time specified. Any adjustments in our regular schedule to accommodate a family’s summer plans must be arranged directly with the Summer Camp Director. Should a camper be absent from camp for any reason, no refunds will be made on the tuition fee. Injury or sickness occurring at home must be verified by a doctor’s statement in order to make up lost time. Every precaution will be taken to insure the safety of each camper, however, the Paxton Sports Centre is not responsible for illness or injury. The right is reserved to dismiss any child whose presence may be found detrimental to the camp or fellow campers.

FOOD / SNACKS

Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Grilled Cheese, PB&J Sandwiches, chips, beverages, ice cream, ice pops, slushy & more may be purchased at our snack bar. Lunch brought from home should be suitably packed and clearly marked with the camper’s name.  Refrigeration will be provided.  Morning snack will be provided to all campers at no additional cost.. 

EQUIPMENT / CLOTHING

Campers will receive a camp T-shirt which is required to be worn on all field trips.  Should the child forget to have their T-shirt on field trip days or lose their shirt, another one will be provided at a cost of $5.00.  Children should wear shorts, t-shirts, socks and athletic shoes and bring along a bathing suit, sunscreen and towel daily.  Please no sandals or flip flops.
